Message from the Dean
Prof. Noboru Harada
Dean, School of Management
The social environment is undergoing dramatic change, and as a result myriad problems that require solution are emerging. Among these problems are environmental concerns and other issues caused by the IT society, worldwide globalization, and an ageing population. This is why the School of Management sets as its goal the development of talented people who are capable of acting independently by putting emphasis on education that allows students to identify these issues and their solutions on their own.

Founded on principles that have guided the Tokyo University of Science over its 120-year history-i.e., to lay the foundation for the nation's future and to encourage the spread of science-the school offers curriculums that allow students to develop their academic abilities through practical exercises that match their fields of specialty. This philosophy is based on quantitative and empirical approaches into which knowledge of science and engineering is adapted. Consequently, the School of Management is a unique faculty that is unlike anything seen in other universities.

The School of Management was founded in 1993, and the Graduate School of Management was established four years later. Despite this short history, graduates of both schools are demonstrating the abilities they cultivated through the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in private enterprises, central and local government offices, academia, and other venues. We are confident that the work of School of Management graduates will contribute to prosperity in 21st-Century society. We look forward to accepting students who desire to constantly pursue their studies with a sense of purpose while seeking to improve themselves, regardless of how society changes.
